GOODPIZZA in Alexandria: vegan-friendly woodfired pizzas

Authentic Italian cuisine can be difficult to find, but GOODPIZZA in Alexandria offers just that. We didn’t have to travel far to get a taste of Italian-style cooking.

The Plus Ones were invited to a food bloggers’ lunch to try the ‘best’ traditional wood-fired pizza in town and a range of fresh home-style salads.

GOODPIZZA prides itself on its modern take on artisan pizza by combining unusual ingredients to create exclusive pizzas. The menu has a modern twist with new and exciting ingredients which aren’t on your standard pizza menus anywhere else.

Owner Alex Pisani decided to open up his own pizzeria after noticing the pizza industry needed a spice up. He wanted to create a unique menu which offers a taste of Italy and caters to everyone.

We tried the ‘Porchetta Bout It’ pizza which is an oil-based pizza with Swiss brown mushrooms, Italian pork sausage, white truffle oil, and fior di latte.  This was truly a delightful pizza which had eccentric flavours you can only find at GOODPIZZA.

This vegan-friendly restaurant even had a kale pizza. The ‘Kale to the Chief’ pizza is a mixture of kale, wilted spinach and fresh parsley, dill, and tomato relish. It was a first for us and won’t be the last.

Another pizza using fresh garden vegetables is ‘Peas Be With You’ which uses crispy mint leaves and crunchy radish with soft ricotta on thin crust.

Last but not least was the Portugese tart — a home-made baked vanilla custard cooked on a pizza base in the wood-fired oven. The hand-made dough was soft, crisp, warm and delicious which is hard to beat.
