We all know that smiling is contagious: it’s an instant reaction to smile back at someone who smiles at you. Smiling also projects confidence, but not all of us have the perfect set of chompers. The folks over at Invisalign® are on a mission to give everyone the confidence they need to infect the world with happiness, so they’ve opened Australia’s first Invisalign® Centre in Sydney. The Plus Ones were invited to experience the unveiling and learn about the innovative technology behind Invisalign® clear aligners.

Nestled in the heart of the Sydney CBD, as I walked in the store I was greeted by the lovely Customer Relations Specialist, wearing her own bright, white smile. After settling in with some tea, I wondered over to a simulator machine where I was shown by a dental professional how the innovative technology works. He demonstrated on a model mouth (not a real person, those plasticky things with pretend teeth and gums), how the mapping software worked. The dental assistant used a tiny camera that takes 6,000 photos a second to create an on-screen replica. From there, he was able to simulate the final, post-treatment simulation of what you can expect your new smile to look like. Cool, huh?

After I had a bit of fun playing around and giving the ‘mouth model’ simulated vampire teeth, we heard from Neighbours star, Sarah Ellen, about her own personal journey with Invisalign®. “I was always a little self-conscious about my teeth…I’d cover my mouth when I laughed, things like that.” Sarah admitted to smiling a lot more after treatment and said Invisalign® was “perfect because she could wear them and take them out between filming”.

Afterwards, we were treated to a smile workshop from make-up artist, Sarah Marie. Sarah taught us that the key to really showing off your smile is through lipstick contouring and picking the right lipstick colour. “For a whiter smile, you’re going to want to pick blue-based reds as opposed to orange-reds. The blue-base will provide contrast and bring out the whiter tones in your teeth, where orange will make them look more yellow”.
