For 18 years, the Pyrmont Growers Market has been a staple of Sydney life. Now, after a 10-month hiatus, it’s back. That’s cause for a celebration! And celebrate we did. The Plus Ones joined locals, celebs, and politicians for the official relaunch party, hosted by PizzAperta.
Located on Pirrama Road in Pyrmont, in The Star complex, PizzAperta is run by the champion of all things Italian, Stefano Manfredi. He was on hand at the jam-packed event, which took place in the casual dining restaurant in the open air on a balmy summer evening.
To showcase the Pyrmont Growers Market produce, the PizzAperta team created pizza bases topped with heaps of local vegetables. My and my +1 Lian‘s favourite pizza involved tons of pumpkin, along with goey cheese and all the fixin’s.
Paired with endless glasses of bubbles and beer, partygoers kept the launch going late into the evening — with a break for speeches from some of the eminent invitees.
We learned that the Pyrmont Growers Market’s focus is on showcasing fresh produce, of course, but there’s so much more on offer. Visit to get your mitts on handmade chocolates and baked goods (for your sweet tooth), fermented foods, cured and fresh meats, Australian olive oils, spices and preserves. And fresh flowers.
You can basically set up your entire week’s worth of meals, plus make your house look good at the same time.
As a former Melburnian, it’s always great to see more markets around Sydney. While we still have a ways to catch up, it’s exciting seeing fresh food on offer for Sydneysiders in the inner city — and looks like the Pyrmont Growers Market is back to stay.
Co-founder of The Plus Ones, Theresa will be pencilling in visits to Pyrmont for sure.
