For your Latin American cultural fix, the Sydney Latin American Film Festival has something, or rather lots of things, for you. It will be all about FIESTA time!

This year SLAFF is turning 10 and they have decided to celebrate it in a big way with a wholesome experience, where the cost doesn’t even come close to its richness. Patrons can attend by donation or free- for other screenings at Darling Harbor.

For the last 10 years this not for profit organization has helped fund several Community Development Projects in Latin America by showcasing the best of their cinema in Australia. All the support they have received from their loyal audience has gone directly into helping achieve their mission and now it is time to celebrate all their accomplishments. This time, all donations received on the night will go directly to maintaining the sustainability of SLAFF.

The first part of the celebration will be this Friday 25th September starting at 7pm in Marrickville with an award winning Colombian film Los Hongos.

LOS HONGOS

Dir. Oscar Ruíz Navia/ Colombia/ Drama/ 2014/103 mins/ English subtitles

This award winning Colombian feature is melting pot of stories and experiences that recreates a day in the life of two young graffiti artists in Cali, Colombia as they search for a way to continuously create and express the freedom they crave. The film’s sophisticated visual language relentlessly bursts with colour and is matched with an energetic Afro‐Colombian soundtrack.

The screening of Los Hongos will be followed by a very special session of killer tunes and shaking moves, so don’t be shy and put on your dancing shoes. Two Colombian DJ´s specialising in great dancing music from Latin America, will make sure you are not leaving before hitting the dance floor and getting your heart racing fast. Be prepared to enjoy the unique styles influenced by salsa and Afro rhythms.

Entry tickets are by donation and they will be given on a first in best-dressed basis, so early arrival is encouraged to avoid disappointment. Food and drinks will be available for purchase onsite.

Location: Addison Road Community Centre, 142 Addison Road, Marrickville

Time: 25th September- doors open 6.00pm and film starts 7.00pm
