Sydneysiders have a new rooftop bar to enjoy Vivid from with the official opening of Salt Meats Cheese’s latest venture: Bar Ombré. The laid-back rooftop bar is situated in the heart of Circular Quay, at the top of Gateway, just around the corner from a Salt Meats Cheese venue.
On launch night, attendees were presented with a free open bar to allow guests to sample some of the establishment’s bespoke cocktails. They even prepared for the pre-winter chill with mulled wine and blankets.
While Vivid glowed in the background, guests danced under the stars and lit decorations. The food takes influences from the owners’ European heritage. Bar Ombré’s menu celebrates simple flavours with daily stretched cheese, cured meats, wood-baked focaccia, and much more. What we sampled was delicious, but unfortunately, my party was too far away from where the servers were going so we missed out on a few tasty morsels. However, towards the end of the night, out came Salt Meats Cheese famous pizzas which we devoured with Italian Sangiovese and classic Negronis while wrapped up in the blankets.
The drinks list features an innovative mix of unique cocktails, spritzes, and Italian and New World wines. For cocktail lovers, there is a host of classic and bespoke European cocktails and spritz including a pear and maple old fashioned and grapefruit barrel-aged Negroni.
Sydneysiders will be happy to hear that the new rooftop bar has a generous Happy Hour 4-6pm every day that includes $5 beers and wines, $10 spritz, and $20 cocktail carafes including Aperol Spritz, Sangria, Margarita, plus homemade soda of the day with your choice of spirit. After happy hour, punters can enjoy free bar snacks from 6pm-8pm including truffled popcorn, wood-fired crackers and pesto, smoked olives, cured pancetta with chilli and pepper, truffle pecorino, and roasted peppers with salsa verde.
