All Aboard The Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer

Iconic Scottish whisky brand Glenfiddich has announced the premier voyage of its one-of-a-kind luxury fitted whisky lounge on wheels: the Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer at a bespoke launch event at the Sydney Overseas Passenger Terminal. The whisky-lounge-on-wheels is setting off on a three-year 9,000km journey to unique locations and events across Australia, including the Good Food & Wine Shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Sitting at over four metres tall and 10 metres long, the vintage 1972 Leyland two storey bus has been refitted with a high-class premium bar, a hydraulic pop-up roof and copper stag head.

Complimenting the unique taste and history of the dram, are delectable food pairings put together by Australia’s “greatest food maverick” Matt Moran, who will also be making special appearances along the Whisky Wanderer’s tour.

Its launch event was hosted by Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador, Luke Sanderson, who will also be heading the biggest dedicated whisky tour ever made in Australia.

“Glenfiddich is renowned worldwide for its mastery and innovation, so we wanted to share this appreciation by bringing a hint of our Scottish Highlands distillery to life in Australia,” Sanderson said.

“In true Glenfiddich style, our travelling whisky lounge is the ideal experience for both whisky enthusiasts and those looking to try their first Single Malt. Come along and try it for yourself.”

Not only will visitors to the Whisky Wanderer have the opportunity to learn all things whisky, but they will also be able to sample a range of malts and create their own unique blend. I attempted to recreate the balance of the Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Vat, whether I was successful or not is another story.

In addition to the gorgeous spread of charcuterie, cheeses and chocolate and orange truffles, attendees at the launch event were treated to experimental highball cocktails made with Glenfiddich Experimental Series IPA Experiment and Project XX (pronounced Project Twenty).

And to cap it all off, we were gifted a personalised bottle of Glenfiddich. Attendees to its upcoming appearances will also have the opportunity to create their own personalised bottle and can choose from the finest in the range including Glenfiddich 12-Year-Old, Glenfiddich 15-Year-Old, Glenfiddich 18-Year-Old, Glenfiddich 21-Year-Old, and Glenfiddich Experimental Series IPA Experiment and Project XX bottles.
