Are you ready to Return to Rio?

Return to Rio festival takes place in Wiseman’s Ferry (just a 90 minute drive from Sydney!) and is well known for being pretty insane; one big mad street party for three days straight.

Copious amounts of glitter and an abundance of sequins are essential to survive this out-of-this-world weekend. Festival goer’s flock to this country town every year seeking an escape from reality. Much-loved for its unconventional format (fancy staying on a houseboat? they’ve got you covered) and over the top character, we were eager to see what the launch party had in store.

Manning bar played host for the evening, a fitting venue since the bar is purpose built for live music events. Famous for its Sydney Uni Band Competition, that’s helped launch the careers of acts such as The Jezebels, they certainly know how to put on a show. The venue was dressed for the occasion, decked out with giant inflatable smiley faces in every corner and strobe lights hanging from the ceiling.

The electronic music lovers in attendance were clearly all in their element, dressed to kill and covered in gems. The energy from the crowd throughout the night was unrelenting and with each act that showcased their talent the atmosphere heightened.

Daví, known as ‘LA’s best kept secret’, has been producing music since the age of seventeen and has toured the world with his techno/electronica sound. Playing favourite tracks like ‘Eclipse’ he knew exactly what would keep everyone dancing.

Headlining the launch was the legendary Henry Saiz. The madrid-born global phenomenon is one busy guy. Not only does he travel the globe DJing in some of the biggest clubs on the planet, he also has his own record label, Natura Sonoris, and hosts a radio show – all driven by his passion for electronic music.

Saiz definitely didn’t disappoint, his set was off the wall and by the time 3am rolled around and the lights came up the crowd refused to believe it all had to come to an end. Luckily, this night was just a taste of things to come. Bring on the real thing!
