FeedUp’s ‘Table Talks’ Tent at the ‘Taste of Sydney’ Festival

When I picture a good time, I think friends, and I think food.

FeedUp’s ‘Table Talks’ tent was the most intriguing ‘micro pop-up’ at Taste of Sydney Festival whose official tagline is ‘for friends who feast’. With local wine provided by HandPicked Wines, fantastic food courtesy of Chefin’, and acoustic entertainment to boot participants got the chance to fall (back) in love with food.

With the introduction of ludicrous city lockout laws, Sydney-siders can find themselves with fewer all-night-bender options and greater motivation to explore other fun things to do with friends. The good news is there are plenty.

Meet FeedUp, the year-old startup that’ll get you and your mates talking, and tasting. The FeedUp community is a place where like-minded people can unite and share unique pop-up dining experiences.

Though Sydney nightlife has seemed to dwindle, FeedUp are working to inject an uprising of foodie culture and appreciation, by promoting community dining. Yes, that means you can be a host.

Enter the resurgence of the dinner party. To me, there’s really nothing like breaking bread around a table with interesting company, and equally good grub.

Believe it or not, lunch or dinner parties are not reserved for uppity instagram couples who know their Shiraz from their Pinots. You don’t have to be a culinary master to entertain people. People want honest flavourful food, not necessarily a meal that took two days to cook, and a sacrifice to the gods.

Perhaps you’re making a bunch of tacos at home. The FeedUp concept allows you to get to know new people by posting your food event to FeedUp’s community, and accepting people’s offers to attend, and cover your costs. The idea encourages us to connect in our most ancient and primal way over a good feed.

Plus, for every event hosted, FeedUp donate a nourishing meal to someone in need via their partner charity OzHarvest.

So next time you’re bored on a Friday night, you know what to do. Throw a dinner party. That’s good taste.
