Moonlight Cinema – Summer Preview

Lounging on a beach chair by a pool by the ocean sipping on a few orange margaritas and cheeseburger and Korean fried chicken burger sliders. Not too bad of way to enjoy the beginning of summer? And working at The Plus Ones, that was exactly what I did!

Well, with Moonlight Cinema and some other movie loving people gathered together, we were celebrating the coming season at a poolside cafe by the ocean. What was discussed was just what amazing things they had in store for the summer season.

Just in case youre wondering Moonlight Cinemas is a outdoor movie experience that usually takes place in a large garden and it runs across different cities in Australia; Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. Theyre known for their star studded VIP screenings and for releasing some of the hottest new releases before they actually hit the cinema.

This seasons movie selection is keen to please; for Hunger Games fans, the final instalment The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be available in two massive screenings. For J-Law fans in general, there will still be more Jennifer Lawrence to go around – with an advanced screening of Joy reunited with Bradley Cooper, Robert Niro and the director of a Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

There seems to be a lot more deep movies this year,a friend there said regarding this years movies and he isnt wrong. Anyone with a thirst for deep and thought provoking drama should stay tuned for Room a film about five-year-old Jack and his mother adjusting to the outside world after escaping the enclosed surroundings that the boy has known all his life; or The Danish Girl (Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander) a love story between two fellow artists Lili and Gerda, and how their marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lilis groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.

Ian Sutherland, the Director of Marketing for Amalgated Holdings Limited said this year theyre eaming up with some of Australias most picturesque gardens, weve lined up for the comfiest bean beds, Gold Grass for the ultimate outdoor cinema experience, a delicious menu, a well-stocked bad, as well as dog friendly screenings and many exceptional nights of film.

As it has always been Moonlight Cinema remains BYO friendly of course, but they hold a famous LA style food truck and fully licensed bar if you and your buddies forget your grub.

A great film has to be accompanied by great food. As a film buff, this is always one of my favourite projects of the year, combining my love of food with cinema in the great outdoors. Weve worked hard to put together a tasty menu exclusively for Moonlight Cinema that pairs perfectly with the film watching experience, the Group Director of Cullinary, Adam Petta said.

The food trucks menu ranges from burger sliders and fries, to American chilli cheese dogs, nachos, buffalo chicken wings with dip to classic movie snacks like popcorn, Maltesers and Choc tops.

Whatever you do though, do not miss out on these: Toasty warm, sugar dusted Nutella donuts!

Moonlight Cinemas are selling tickets today following on from Tuesday this week, be  sure to be quick as every screening is sure to sell out. Sydney shows take place in Belvedere Amphitheatre in  Centennial Park, and the Royal Botanic GardensCentral Lawn in Melbourne.

The 2015/2016 summer shows begin from Thursday 3rd of December to Sunday 27th of March.
