Roll up, roll up! Circus 1903 lands in Sydney.

Internationally acclaimed Circus 1903, has arrived in Sydney just in time for the festive season. The show transports us back to the bygone era of wonder and magic under the circus’ big top.

Led by ringmaster, David Williamson – who invites the audience to take part on stage throughout the show – whisks us away to the enchanting Golden Age of Circus with his captivating elephant Queenie and her calf Peanut – artistically designed puppets from the award-winning War Horse team.

The puppets are accompanied by a diverse cast of world-class performers, who are adorned in glamorous 1920’s style costumes and props. They take us on their journey of being a part of the circus and the magic it brings to so many.

Throughout the performance, the audience was in awe of the many mesmerising and often seat gripping acts, through burlesque, circus and acrobatics there were often gasps coming from the audience or children pointing at the captivating aerial performers flying from above.

Following the show’s debut at the Opera House in 2016, Circus 1903 returns after a global tour including Los Angeles, New York, a residency in Las Vegas, and four highly successful seasons in London.

The nostalgic show has been produced by Tim Lawson & The Works Entertainment – the creative force behind productions such as Le Grand Cirque, Le Noir, Cirque Adrenaline, and The Illusionists – the show features an original composition by Evan Jolly, known for his work on Netflix’s The Crown and DC’s Aquaman. And to add to the visual splendour are costumes crafted by the renowned designer Angela Aaron, celebrated for her contributions to Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple. Each part of the show from dazzling costumes to balancing acts has been meticulously perfected.

Circus 1903 has currently taken over the concert hall at the Sydney Opera House in a strictly limited run from December 21-29, and will then travel to Arts Centre Melbourne in 2024.
