Steven Ellison AKA Flying Lotus is bringing his electrifying and mind-bending new show to Australian shores in late January. The experimental beatmaker and jazz musician will be showcasing a unique 3D stage performance that will be presented by Melbourne based label The Operatives.
FlyLo (as he is affectionately known by fans) is no stranger to live production, but his latest tour is guaranteed to shake things up. Fans will be given 3D glasses in which they will get to experience an eccentric collision of music and visual art. It’s set to be a kaleidoscopic combustion of dancers, textures and imagery created by long-term collaborators and visionaries Strangeloop and Timeboy. FlyLo himself is quick to point out that no night is guaranteed to be the same, with music and visuals improvised on the spot by both himself and the artists.
Flying Lotus will be performing his latest release Flamagra, a fire-themed album that is scattered with features from the best of the best. These features include Anderson .Paak, Tierra Whack, Denzell Curry, Solange, Toro Y Moi and long term collaborator Thundercat. Flamagra is loaded with FlyLo’s signature avant-garde jazz and permeated with jam sessions of electro-funk and hip-hop intuition.
