Mark Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) at home with an inspired cocktail

El Día de los Muertos, aka Day of the Dead will unfold over 1st and 2nd November 2021 this year, as Mexicans across the globe remember and commemorate the lives of departed loves one. For those in the know, Day of the Dead is no sombre occasion, expect explosion of colour, upbeat music as well as dancing and drinks – and of course there is always a fantastic event to checkout. With ‘you know what’ on the mind and Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival falling on the same days, we’ve sadly not seeing as many IRL events meaning it’s the perfect time to mark the occasion at home (with cocktails!).

If you’re into a fresh and crisp tequila that has a rustic hit of earthy agave, Cazcabel Blanco Tequila, will be your pick. Crafted in an independent distillery in the highlands of the Jalisco Mountains, the bottles make a great addition to a fancy home bar setup, or a nice present (hint hint – xmas is on the way). Our recommendation is to try the Picante cocktail.

  • 60ml Cazcabel Blanco Tequila
  • 20ml Lime Juice
  • 3 dashes of Green Tabasco
  • Top with Premium Ginger Beer

Add all ingredients to a tall glass and stir well before filling with lots of ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with lime, coriander & a red chilli.

Day of the dead falls on 1st & 2nd November this year. Please support local bars by booking ahead of time. Cazcabel Tequila is available at Dan Murphys and BWS in Australia.
