First of all, I must say the location for Heineken Saturday was incredible. Right in front of our own iconic Bondi Beach. While standing on the top deck of the VIP lounge, I could see the surfers riding the waves. The weather was exquisite, too — rays of bright sunlight lit the green beach umbrellas of the Heineken Saturday event at the Royal Croquet Club.
Of course I had a Heineken beer in my hand, because what would a Heineken event be without an original Heineken beer? As I watched this magnificent scene I could hear the voices of people drinking their beer and playing croquet. The finishing touch was hearing the vivid songs from San Cisco, Bag Raiders, and KLP drumming in my ears, which were being played live on the front podium.
Gorgeous Heineken promo girls walked around with beautiful white dresses and white-and-red flowered green hairbands on. They gave out the same flower bands and black Heineken hats. Next to the three mini croquet fields of the Royal Croquet Club and all the different food stalls, there were three top deck levels spread out over the area. IN the VIP area, guests enjoyed chicken satay, mini hamburgers, and amazing tasty pork with a cashew nut sauce sandwiches.
The vibe at Heineken Saturday was so relaxed and open. Everybody seemed to be having an entertaining time enjoying each other and playing croquet. Of course, I have experience with Heineken – as I am from the Netherlands this is one of my favourite (and famous) home country brands. Although I’ll admit I had never seen a live game of croquet before! It seemed like a great time even on the small fields.
The real fun started when the sun was setting and the crowd was beginning to get more joyful as the alcohol kept flowing. It more and more affected their movements and thus their croquet-playing abilities. The men would start making silly mistakes and the young women could not stop giggling and ridiculing them. It all seemed like one hell of a party.
The sun was already set and the people started to get looser. People started moving more to the front of the podium where the DJ was playing great songs. We kept dancing till the very end.
