What to drink this Summer holidays!

Can you believe that 2021 is almost over!? If you’re anything like Team TPO, you are ready to share a tasty drink with friends. With the summer holidays well and truly here, our writers have done the ‘hard’ work of finding the absolutely best drinks to enjoy on a hot sunny day this Xmas and New Years (or let’s be honest, anytime). Some classics, and soon to be classics are featured, so why not mix things up this summer with something you haven’t tried before – we guarantee these are all delicious! Cheers to the holidays!

Patrón Reposado Tequila
While many of us are not able to travel internationally anytime soon, Patron is a little taste of Mexico right at home. Crafted in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, it takes over 60 skilled hands to make just one bottle! The Patron Tequila range of Reposado, Blanco and Anejo has enough range to find something delicious for sipping or using them in classic cocktails such as our favourite – the Paloma!

While Patrón Tequila would make a great xmas gift this Christmas, we’d also recommend buying a bottle for yourself to whip up some Paloma cocktails. Add to a tall glass tequila, pink grapefruit juice, lime juice (freshly squeezed), a little agave syrup and top with grapefruit soda. It’s super summery and refreshing.

Yarra Burn Spritzes
Heading to New Years celebrations, or perhaps an Aussie Xmas Day at the park? What you need is a grab & go, ready-to-drink can of Yarra Burn’s new Spritzes! The lower-ABV means its great for a casual celebration with friends, and because it’s freshly sealed in a can its super easy to count how many drinks you have had and always have a perfectly bubbly sip. Yarra Burn Spritzes come in a few light, flavoursome and refreshing flavours including Prosecco Spritz, Rosé Spritz, Prosecco Spritz with Orange Bitters, and Cuvée Spritz.

Bombay Sapphire’s Ready to Drink Gin & Tonic Cans
For the perfect serve, wherever you are, Bombay Sapphire Gin & Tonic cans have you covered. One of the best things about this classic London Dry Bombay Sapphire G&T is the convenience. You know exactly how many standard drinks you have had, and can chuck them straight into the esky with some ice to stay nice and cold. We’ll be drinking these on New Years Eve, and they will no doubt make an appearance at every summer BBQ & park picnic!

Santa Margherita’s Prosecco Di Valdobbiadene
For those of us who have been dreaming of visiting Italy again, you’re going to love this Prosecco! True Italian craftsmanship has gone into producing Santa Margherita’s Prosecco Di Valdobbiadene. Prosecco is the fastest growing white wine grape in Australia and Santa Margherita’s Prosecco Di Valdobbiadene is a great example of authentically Italian wine that matches perfectly for any occasion. This is definitely a celebration bubbly that you’ll want to share with loved ones. Aromas of ripe pineapples, peaches and golden apples, pairs well with everything from seafood to rich carbonara and rosemary beef. Perfect for your Christmas dinner, or a New Years countdown cork bottle pop!

Bombay Sapphire Sunset
Bombay Sapphire needs no introduction. The most recognisable gin brand on Earth has been mixing things up lately, so we were super excited to see the release of their special new Bombay Sapphire Sunset.

Combining the signature Bombay Sapphire Botanicals, as well as three additional ingredients that give it the sunset name; golden turmeric, Indian cardamom and Spanish mandarin. While we loved the gin neat, we’d recommend making some delicious cocktails for your friends to see out the New Year! Add the Bombay Sapphire Sunset gin to a glass with a blood orange wheel, star anise and top with some Fever Tree aromatic or Mediteranian bitters.

Booze bottle next to nice looking cocktail and a sliced grapefruitPampelle Ruby Red Grapefruit Aperitif
After another turbulent year of lockdowns, this festive season is more welcome than ever. Christmas (and other Summer celebrations) deserve the perfect refreshment after all. Pampelle, the world’s first Ruby Red Grapefruit aperitif, tastes like summer in a glass. Crafted on the banks of the River Charente in Cognac, France, Pampelle is bittersweet and perfect for cocktails or neat on ice.

With a low ABV and 30% less sugar than similar aperitif’s on the market (hello summer bod), Pampelle strikes the right balance between fun & flavour. We reccommend enjoying Pampelle with tonic or in the Pampelle Spritz. To make one for yourself, add two parts Pampelle, one part Prosecco and top with soda and an orange or grapefruit wedge. We also love using this for a cheeky Negroni! We also love that the team will be pouring Pampelle cocktails at one of our favourite events this summer: So Frenchy So Chic, a music festival dedicated to French music and delicious food & drinks. The event in Melbourne is on February 13th or Sydney on February 19th.

Whatever your tipple of choice is this summer, we hope you have a great time reconnecting with your favourite Plus Ones.
