With Sydneysiders and Melburnians back in lockdown for the foreseeable future, what better time is there to crack open a bottle of booze and whip up some delicious tipples. Even better if you pair it with one of the amazing live streaming events we have listed on our website. Here’s three cocktails you MUST try this lockdown.
Honeycomb Espresso Martini
The trick to this delicious drink is it’s super easy to make with a few ingredients in your cupboard and a bottle of Dubliner Whiskey & Honeycomb Liqueur. Made in the heart of the Liberties district of Dublin, the award-winning Whiskey has relaunched in Australia. What we like about this cocktail is that the honey sweetness balances perfectly with the delicious bitterness of the coffee.
To make it just add 60ml Dubliner Whiskey & Honeycomb Liqueur (available at Dan Murphys), 30ml Espresso and 15ml Mr Black Coffee Liqueur. Shake all ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker until chilled. Fine strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with honeycomb or coffee beans.
Mulled Wine
Is there anything more perfectly paired than staying snug at home and sipping on warm and sweet mulled wine? We recently tried making our own at home using Madam Sass Pinot Noir which worked perfectly with the spices. We’d be lying if we didn’t have a glass or two straight out of the bottle as we were getting all the ingredients sorted.
To make it just add two diced oranges, one bottle of Madam Sass Pinot Noir, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey, two whole cinnamon sticks, three star anise and four whole cloves. Simmer the concoction until the aromas and taste are perfect (15-20mins) then garnish in a mug with an orange circle. You can pickup a bottle of this one from Dan Murphys & BWS.
