Porters Williamstown launch Dining at Home

Plates of food and cocktails

Williamstown’s days as a neglected industrial area are long gone, with the scenic, sea-side sanctuary known as a great place to grab a bite and go for a stroll along the beach. Porters is a local staple for a reason, and for the first time they are giving Melburnians a taste of their modern Australian fare at home.

Husband and wife duo, John and Zoey Porter created this restaurant and cafe in 2018 after seeing a gap in the market. Inspired by Australia’s rich diversity and fabulous local produce, the Porters see their food as a way to express their love of Australia and all that the country has to offer. Each week, Chef Cathlyn Chow, creates a new entree, main and dessert special – an important undertaking to keep things interesting, considering the many loyal customers that come back to Porters time and time again. Think Crispy Skin Barramundi with summer ratatouille, pan fried polenta and balsamic tomatoes or even Slow Roasted Lamb shoulder served with tahini, ancient grain salad & honey labneh.

When the COVID-19 lockdowns hit, it was time to keep the restaurant (and hungry locals spirits) afloat with a quick pivot to heat at home meals. However, after the lockdowns ended, the ongoing demand for gourmet convenience meals meant the team decided to continue running their ‘Porters At Home’ offering through their website.

Available for both pick-up or delivery, Porters’ At Home packs are simply reheat and prepare at home. They are definitely not your regular takeaway. What impressed us is you can also order a delicious bottle of wine or house-made cocktails (hello espresso martini!) ready to shake and serve along side your meal.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxed, yet impressive dining experience, or simply need to pick up some quick, delicious dishes for dinner tonight, Porters is a great choice.
