The Presets at Melbourne Zoo Twilights

The excellent Zoo Twilights is back this summer at Melbourne Zoo. In the fight against wildlife extinction, our world-class home to some pretty special animals has invited great local and international musicians to play live, under the stars and in a setting unlike any other. Over summer world-class acts such as Hanson, Client Liaison and Briggs sold out shows. Tonight though, we only had ears for one band: The Presets!
If you are clever and arrive at dusk you will have time to explore the Zoo and meet some of the animals before settling up a picnic the lawns for the show. My plus one and I arrived fashionably late, but still managed to see some happy giraffe munching on their dinner before getting a nice icy-cold beer and settling in to see the bands.
One of our favourite bands, The Presets were headlining this night with support from the excellent Melbourne native Janette Pitruzzello aka DJ JNETT, who has been spinning records and creating good vibes since the early 90s. It goes without saying that the audience loved every minute of their show.
We were particularly impressed with the fun visuals for each track. Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes have been producing bangers together for over a decade now and we hope to be able to still see them performing in another ten years. The Presets are touring their 4th studio album, HI VIZ, so keep an eye out for their shows across the country over the coming months.
There are so many great things we love about Zoo Twilights. The family friendly picnics, the welcoming all-ages audience, places to sit and relax or to dance the night away, great food trucks and locally produced drinks. Having all of this in one stunning venue on a clear summers night is perfection.
All proceeds go towards helping save our furry little friends, the Eastern Barred Bandicoot from extinction. C’mon, do you really want this adorable little guy to disappear forever!? While the season of excellent live music has sadly come to an end for this year, be sure to head on over to the Zoo Twilights website and sign up to their mailing list to hear when next years acts are announced! We guarantee it’s a great experience and for a very worthy cause.
