The Smith in Prahran closed late last year in order to reopen this month twice the size and twice the fun! The Smith is a 300-seater pub and function venue located at the High St end of Chapel St.
We were greeted with generous smiles and a delicious sparkling wine to start. First stop was the video/photo booth, that enabled you to print photos from and send the video to your email, a very cool start to the evening.
There was so many wait staff that a drink top up was never far-away and we felt very looked after. The motto, ‘Leave it all behind’ on the back of their t-shirts embraced The Smith’s move forward into a new chapter.
The food started coming, and coming, and coming! To start we had fresh oysters and delicious seared tuna sashimi on a puffed rice cracker with wasabi pickled ginger. Followed by soft shell crab sliders with pickles, avocado, chilli mayonnaise on the softest buns. Finally were melt in the mouth pork ribs with BBQ sauce and loaded fries.
The venue looks amazing, with large open ceilings, timber benches and tables, and gorgeous greenery everywhere. The building is now made up of two large spaces on the ground floor. Smith and Chips, The Smith’s fancey fish ‘n’ chop take-away will be housed under a German designed retractable roof. Opening in August, it will be the perfect place to enjoy a drink in summer. Upstairs is two large function rooms and a smoker’s balcony.
If you are in the area I would highly recommend checking out The Smith, and The Smith ‘n’ chips when it opens in August.
