New Year’s Eve has long been recognised as being ‘The Day To Turn Over A New Leaf’, or alternatively and far more annoyingly, ‘The Day To Say New-Year-New-Me Incessantly’. New Year’s Eve 2016 was neither for me, as I schlepped it at Together NYE at Circa in St. Kilda – an exclusive rooftop + poolside party with free drinks and great eye-candy.
Okay, I exaggerate a little — it wasn’t my usual New Year’s Eve shindig, but it was a great night and that’s all that matters!

My plus one and I were ushered straight through to the rooftop where we could grab a glass of sparkling and pick out the perfect spot for people watching. This turned out to be right next to the photo wall (and completely coincidentally right across from the drinks table). My sparkling turned into an espresso martini, after which it was most mysteriously replaced with a vodka in each hand.
From our vantage point we watched swarms of My Kitchen Rules, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Big Brother, and X-Factor contestants arrive, as well as the odd footballer, socialite and actor. Rob ‘Millsy’ Mills was my highlight of the night, especially witnessing him moonlighting as a glassy and begin to clear people’s tables of drinks. What a sweetie. My plus one’s favourite pick was surely Brynn Ecclestone.
The inside area contained a bar, dance-floor and pool (which sadly I couldn’t get into but over which VIP booths had been set up).
Outside was reminiscent of a Melbourne Cup marquee with booths, an outdoor bar, plenty of sunshine and great people watching. Everybody was dressed to the nines and the typical marquee crowd appeared to be there.
Together NYE was the perfect way for me and my boyfriend to end a rollercoaster of a 2016. I got to don my heels, dance and drink to my heart’s content — all surrounded by Melbourne’s most glamourous people. I finished it off with a trip to Maccas.
Honestly, it was one of my better New Year’s Eves. Even if I didn’t quite make it to midnight….next year perhaps. Less than twelve measly months until we get to do it all again!
