Piknic Électronik Melbourne

Piknic Électronik started as an epic open air electronic music festival held throughout Montreal’s summer months. Since its beginnings, the concept has spread to several cities across the globe, and luckily for us Melburnians we’ve been able to get our Sunday fix for the last three years.

In its third Melbourne season, the festival is taking place every Sunday until 19 March from 2-9pm on the gorgeous South Side Lawns at the Sidney Meyer Music Bowl. The Melbourne crew has designed the space so that you can chill on the grassy knolls (and actually have a picnic) with gorgeous views of the city skyline. Or, you can get your dance on with some of the best local and international DJs.

On the day, you’re going to sweat and dance your heart out with a fabulous dance festival experience in the heart of Melbourne. Attendees are festival-ready with many sporting festival bands from the who’s who of Australia’s summer music festivals.

There’s plenty of food and (free) water onsite as well as mix of scrumptious cocktails and craft beer. Shady spaces are available, but in high demand. Make sure you sunscreen or bring along a colourful umbrella. If you want to make new friends on the day a spray bottle full of water also wouldn’t go awry.

You’re allowed to take outside food into the venue but no drinks. If you’re going for a full seven hour session I’d definitely recommend bringing in food. Early bird tickets are available from $15 +bf online. You can also buy on the door but events have a tendency to sell out so it’s best to get in quick. Unfortunately season passes are all sold out which is no surprise as they represented great value for money.

I look forward to attending more Picnik Électronik events over the summer, and here’s to another great way to experience Melbourne!
