Heineken parties are developing a bit of a reputation for themselves. The ‘City Shapers‘ party has my vote for the best event of 2016 in Melbourne, which is no mean feat given how many events The Plus Oners go to. So when the team decided to sponsor a day at the Royal Croquet Club (which our team had attended in Sydney) I jumped at the opportunity to attend.
I had been to RCC the week before, the setup is epic! On the day the entire area from the stage to umbrellas to hats were decked out in the appropriate Heineken green.
The dedicated Heineken area was directly in front of the main stage with an elevated balcony providing the perfect vantage point to soak in the evening’s atmosphere. And soak it in we did.
Two Heinekens were on show throughout the evening: Heineken 3 Lager and Heineken Premium. Couple these with free flowing wine, sparkling and great food from: 8 Bit, Hoy Pinoy and POW Kitchen and the stage was set for a great night. Oh, and did I mention the thumping beats? Needless to say, after an hour or two everyone was in the mood for a dancy-dance.
As I look back over the year, I always ask myself what separates a good event from the great. The answer for me always comes back to interaction, and the way the event is setup to facilitate interaction between guests. Royal Croquet Club is designed to do this in spades. You can play croquet with complete strangers people! Bringing the traditional Heineken Saturday party to the event adds a lot of icing to that cake.
