Rolling Stone are bringing their Live Lodge back to Melbourne once more, with three weeks of musical joy at the Workers Club in Fitzroy, kicking off at the end of September.
Here are our top picks of their epic live shows that you need to get yourself to.
1: A.B. Original, Thursday 29th September
The boys of A.B. Original (Briggs and Trials) have taken Australia by storm this year. After first hearing their work as the title track of the amazing Cleverman series, I’ve become addicted to their honest and political brand of music. Their newest track, ‘January 26’ has kicked off a debate that Australia’s needed and has been avoiding for a long time. A.B. Original are making history.
2: Oh Mercy, Friday 30th September
Alexander Gow of Oh Mercy is taking to the stage with the tantalising promise of ‘a range of special guests’. Their style is laidback and emotional with some beautiful beats. Bopping around to Oh Mercy and mates with your own mates on a Friday night sounds like a pretty great evening.
3: Ella Hooper and the New Magic Band, Thursday 6th October
I’m not sure that there’s a soul in Melbourne who was alive during the early 2000’s who doesn’t have a soft spot for everything Ella Hooper has done in the music scene. Her voice is magnificent, and if her new EP is anything to go by, Hooper and the New Magic Band are going to have every audience member thoroughly enchanted throughout their set.
