It’s that time of year again when we’re all struggling to think of what to get friends, colleagues, loved ones (and let’s be real – ourselves) for Christmas. So when Melbourne based gifting startup PersonallyPicked invited us to road-test their curated gifting platform, we jumped at the opportunity to find something special to bring holiday cheer into our home.
From cocktails to pampering, PersonallyPicked was there to bring some cheer to friends during lockdowns in Melbourne and Sydney over the last year, after all it was a nice way to stay connected and celebrate milestones, particularly when you couldn’t be with family and friends. The female founded company have done the hard work for you by curating some of the best prezzies (over 150 of them) so you can take it easy with a selection of items that fit into what we like to think of as the Goldilocks zone (not too many choices to be overwhelming, just the right amount).
We’re personally really into Australian craft spirits, so it was fantastic to see that they stocked a nice selection of South Australian Twenty Third St Distillery gin & vodka (hello cocktails). We also noticed they had the Melbourne Martini cocktails in a jar (yes, espresso martinis!). On top of that we included a delicious vanilla & caramel soy candle from Glasshouse. While we’re always told as children that you can’t judge a book by its cover, the packaging, personal gift card and custom named box that this all arrived in might have just changed our minds here – it looked fantastic. I can just imagine the look on my friends faces when they receive a box that literally has their name on it!
Activity related gifts are one of our personal favourites (we’re all about activities at The Plus Ones!), so the Journey of Something puzzles, mini quiz games, and cocktail recipe books could be a good pick. Hot tip: if you buy someone a cocktail recipe book and a bottle of booze, they HAVE to make you a drink – it’s the law*
Whether its pampering friends and family with beauty and wellness products, gifting the green-thumbed plant dad in your life some new plant babies, or treating them with delicious cocktail ingredients or Aussie craft beers, we think there is something available here that would make the special people in your life really happy.
PersonallyPicked boxes are bright, colourful and unique and would make a great prezzies this Christmas (or anytime). Apparently they’ve even sent out thousands of their favourite gift cards saying: “Sorry things are a bit shit right now”, which is a message I think we can all get behind.
