It’s time for aromatic, alfresco dining! Sweet and savory aromas are drifting through the evening air for the next eighteen days as the Night Noodle Markets descend on Birrarung Marr.
With over twenty different hawker-style stalls cooking up unique and flavorful dishes, we suggest recruiting your friends and lovers to share the indulgent creations. POKLOL x Puffle are dishing up Mac N Goreng’ – Mac N Cheese with a Mi Goreng twist. Mr. Miyagi are getting decadent with black truffle potato puree and Burgundy onion jam topping Wagyu beef-cheek. While Gelato Messina has a truly ridiculous and surely delicious dessert featuring brown sugar banana gelato and banana bread wrapped in filo pastry, deep fried then topped with custard and chocolate peanut butter crumb. For those that enjoy the ‘classics’ there is also Filipino style grilled corn, Twistto potatoes, and Hoy Pinoy skewers.
Obviously you’ll need a drink to wash it all down and spring time favourite Pimms comes to the rescue with their Garden Bar serving $10 drinks or $34 jugs with picnic rugs. Visitors can also stroll through the market stalls with a glass of Laira wine or beer from James Squire. Those looking for a healthier alternative can head to the Amplify Kombucha Bar for BOTTOMLESS kombucha, on the house. (While we’re left wondering if it’s possible to have too much of a good thing.)
Although food is the focus, visitors will also be treated to live music and DJs at the festival. And Laira is hosting a series of Paint and Sip sessions priced at $60 for wine loving artists in the crowd. (Bookings required).
A friendly reminder that the markets are cash-free, with cash cards available for purchase and all major cards accepted. In 2017, Citi cardholders alone spent over $50,000 at the Melbourne Night Noodle Market. That’s a lot of Hoy Pinoy skewers.
Pull up a grassy seat by the banks of the Yarra River and watch the city lights twinkle as you treat your taste buds to a flavorful journey through Asia.
