Malthouse Theatre’s 2017 season: your sneak peak

Let it be known that the TPO team can keep a secret. Which is no easy feat when the secret is new and exciting art. Case in point: receiving an early press release detailing Malthouse Theatre’s 2017 season.

Start marking your calendars for a mix of new work, Australian premieres, and re-worked classics. Or don’t. For the first time, Malthouse is offering season subscriptions without locked in dates.

It is eight months away and I am already giddy with anticipation for ‘Wild Bore’. Created and performed by genre-defying dream team Zoe Coombs Marr, Ursula Martinez, and Adrienne Truscott, this show will be anything but mundane.

Before the above mentioned superstar team of performance artists make their impression on Melbourne, Complicite’s ‘The Encounter’ kicks off the season. The production promises to be an original aural experience. The soundscape will be immersive, with every member of the audience wearing a headset.

In addition to the season programing, keep an eye out for special events at Malthouse Theatre too. The audience will join Susie Dee and Nicci Wilks in an actual caravan for ‘Caravan of Love’. It will be a night of dark comedy as a series of Tinder dates pass through the women’s dilapidated home.
