It’s no secret that The Plus Ones love Boozy Brunch. In fact, their exciting events are often a highlight of the month for our team.
Boozy Brunch, for those not yet in the know, combines food, fashion and entertainment culture into a lavish event. Popping up for one day only at different venues across Melbourne, you can always expect to have a great time. Every event is different to create a unique experience that will leave a long lasting impression.
This time Boozy Brunch popped up at Taxi Dining in Fed Square. This venue is full of light, has huge high ceilings with views over the city from one side and the Yarra River on the other. Upon arriving, my plus one and I received some tasty blood orange cocktails using Blue Harbour Vodka. The DJ was already playing great music and the well-dressed crowds started to flow in. We loved the attention to detail here with live artwork being painted and decorations on every table.
As expected from a restaurant as good as Taxi Dining, the food was exceptional. We were treated to a menu that included hickory smoked salmon buns with macadamia crumble, sake washed tuna, slow roasted lamb with caramelized yoghurt as well as spring onion and turnip cakes with ginger dipping sauce.
We sipped on Mojo wine while chatting with our fashionably dressed dining partners as the runway show began. Australian designers DIIDA and Dom Bagnato showed off spring fashion for men and women that would be perfect for the spring racing season. As the ridiculously good-looking models swanned off the runway and we nibbled on our next course, roving performers appeared — including a magician!
As the lunch ended and more boozy drinks started flowing, it was time to get up and dance. The DJ pulled out some classic dance floor numbers and was joined on stage by live vocalist Tony Kopa who got everyone on their feet. Desserts began being passed around but the real star of the show continued to be the tasty cocktails. We had not tried the Mist Wood Gin before but were pleasantly surprised by the fresh, summer flavors of grapefruit & lime.
As we made our way to the exit, out into the late afternoon sun, clutching our complementary Bondi Sands home tanning sprays, we knew we wanted to head back to Boozy Brunch again next time. Cheers to another fantastic Boozy Brunch!
