Fashion + Aid, brought to you by SMSGLOBAL, exploded into Crown Palladium over the weekend, reaffirming its place as one of the biggest events of the year. A perfect mixture of mischief, frocks and fundraising, attended by the who’s who of fashion and fashion lovers alike. The red carpet was abuzz with paparazzi, but I managed to squish in armed with my iPhone to get some Instagram snaps before going to check out the auction.
Armed with a glass of champagne in one hand and a pink frozen martini in the other, I went to wander the items up for grabs. The range was huge and resembled an exhibition rather then an auction, with everything from a pair of autographed Muhammed Ali gloves to a signed Coldplay guitar.
After the red carpet had finished I was already up to seven glasses of champagne, and wondering what would happen by the end? The doors to the Palladium swung open and I was struck by the sheer size of the room, let alone the stage and lighting. My plus one and I went and took a seat as the shows to began.
The catwalks were a mixture of performance, fashion, dance & music which shook the room. The speeches were broken up throughout the show which kept the pace of the night, but in my heart I was there for one thing, other then all the booze, THE ROGUE TRADERS! That’s right kids, The Rogue Traders reformed for a special performance just for Fashion + Aid, and boy did they rock it!
Fashion + Aid was definitely a highlight of 2016 and I can’t wait for the next one. For those of you that missed out you have a whole year to start planning your outfit for next year’s event. It’s definitely something you go all-out for in the good name of charity fundraising. Well done to the team that organised the successful event with all the money raised helping those in need.
