Dr Duck is a newly formed comedy group presenting ‘The Duck Will See You Now‘. This show is old class sketch comedy.
The actors build on punchy one-liners that will have you LOLing all night long. They have the gags up their sleeves which include paying out some middle class Melbourne mums, a vegan and Australian politicians. Dr Duck’s comedy is simple yet effective. I will confess that I am a layman when it comes to wit, I don’t like being left in the dark when it comes to comedy (I honestly hate laughing just because everyone else in the room is). But do not worry, because Dr Duck is FUNNY. I had a good belly laugh at every sketch. I am legit.
On another note, this is the first show that I have seen in the entire Fringe Festival with a mixed cast. It’s time to get real about this. After a week and a half and six Fringe shows it’s great to finally see people with colour on stage. They shouldn’t be unique, but after so many white actors I am going to say that Dr Duck are a unique group. They are also special due to the fact that they all met through comedy. Each player is new to the ensemble. The background of the group is varied, coming from Melbourne Uni alumni, C31’s Live on Bowen, Improv Conspiracy, and Impromptunes. I encourage them to keep working together to produce them gags.
Comedy is best enjoyed in groups, and Fancy Hank’s is the best place to get drinks and burgers before the show. Happy hour is 4pm to 7pm (winky face). If you’re keen you can stick around for comedy that follows later in the night.
