There’s a first time for everything! It was my inaugural visit to the fabulous National Trust-listed Como House (home of the present The Dressmaker exhibition). And also my first time trying out Deliveroo. I’m sure you’ve seen the bicycles around town, with their almost Tiffany-blue coloured boxes on back. These dedicated delivery people are moving around food from some of the top restaurants in town.
On an unseasonably sunny and warm day, Melbourne’s top food bloggers and socialites descended upon the gardens of Como House. Tables and chairs were ringed by tables groaning under the amount of Instagram-worthy food — which kept switching throughout the afternoon.
To celebrate, we got to try delicious food from The Little Peddler, Huxtaburger, TPO favourite Meatball & Wine Bar, White Oaks Saloon, and Radio Mexico. I nabbed some desserts from Little Cupcakes, LuxBite (hello, macaroons). There were also paletas — Mexican ice cream bars — from Chillbro Paletas (which I’d had previously at a Mission Mexican Festival event).
Fun activities included lettering by Jasmine Designs, a prize draw of bottles of Vino Mofo wine and Peter Lang jewelry (which I won, but sadly didn’t get to in time before they were all nabbed — sniff). Everyone who posted on social media could also get our photos printed out by Social Playground. There was even a hilarious onsie-led dancing flashmob from the Deliveroo staff. We all left with bags of goodies, including Montague Fresh‘s healthy Jazz apples. My +1 hoped to make an apple crumble out of them — what a great idea from a great afternoon.
