Poh Ling Yeow has opened her first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Melbourne and we couldn’t be more excited!
The MasterChef star has teamed up with Singleton Whisky and QT Melbourne to create The Singleton’s Delicious Discoveries. The unique pop up dining experience features eight sweet and savoury dishes crafted by Poh herself, paired with eight Singleton cocktails….the best part? It’s all delivered via a sushi train!
We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek (and taste) of the new pop-up experience and it left our tongues tingling and minds full of inspiration for our own at-home Singleton cocktail creations.
The menu consists of four sweet and four savoury tapas sized dishes created by Poh paired with eight recommended Singleton Whiskey cocktails. It’s an Asian fusion theme with bursts of Italian inspiration – Poh has broken all the rules of traditional recipes and cuisine.
Her dishes play with texture and combine unexpected flavours and ingredients from around the world.
The result? A mouth-watering, unexpected menu full of delicious discoveries. Dishes range from exotic: Chawanmushi with shiitake and Cantonese fish scalding sauce, to the more traditional: fluffy fried chicken bao. Then there’s the downright lip-licking delicious: Italian strawberries and cream topped with balsamic and basil (my personal favourite).
Each dish is paired with a Singleton “plus two” cocktail. Singleton’s approachable, easy cocktail recipe requires only three ingredients and can be made with virtually anything in your fridge. One shot of Singleton Whiskey mixed with equal parts still and sparkling mixer and ta-da! You’ve got a delicious cocktail.
The Delicious Discoveries cocktails are curated to match Poh’s menu, however, there’s also a make your own option allowing diners to select their own mixers.
With dishes starting from just $8, Delicious Discoveries is the perfect stop for a quick afternoon snack or a lazy eight-course dining experience. The pop up is located in the Melbourne’s QT hotel and is running for three months.
