As the weather gets colder, and we plunge deeper into winter, I can’t stop thinking about two things: soul food and drinking (gotta pass those long cold nights somehow).
Meet the Bottomless Roast – an ingenious creation (and first of its kind) by Melbourne’s Mr. Joe. Two of Melbourne’s favourite dining experiences – bottomless drinks and the Sunday roast – are here just in time for winter.
Mr. Joe’s Bottomless Roast experience comprises of seven dishes paired with bottomless cocktails, sparkling and beer. Did I mention the food is bottomless as well?
The menu is a fusion of traditional roast favourites like pork belly, grilled rump, and seasonal vegetables, along with Mr. Joe’s own spin on a few dishes; Thai grilled chicken, lamb ribs marinated in Asian spices, bread with whipped ricotta, and gyoza. All delivered atop a large, picturesque grazing platter.
As a regular bottomless brunch attendee, I’ve constructed my own “bottomless rating scale.” The drinks offering is a key make or break criteria, often determining which bottomless brunch I’ll visit next.
Speed of service, drinks quality, and selection are always top of mind. The service at Mr. Joe was prompt (despite a full venue seating); our glasses were never left empty long, and the bar staff really knew how to pump out the cocktails.
The beer and wine selections are minimal, but the cocktail offering is where Mr. Joe really excels. The espresso martinis were top quality, and the house made watermelon punch was a personal favourite.
The bottom line? If you’re a meat and cocktail lover, Mr. Joe’s Bottomless Roast is a must try this winter.
Located on Burnley St in Richmond, Mr. Joe is the perfect destination for pre-game drinks for anyone headed to an MCG game.
Mr. Joe bottomless roast runs on Sundays from 1pm-3pm and costs $72 per person. Book your tickets here. They also have a Saturday bottomless brunch with two seatings for $65 per person.
