VAMFF 2018

VAMFF: Runway 1 presented by Vogue

Melbourne fashionistas have headed for the runway as Virgin Australia Fashion Festival (VAMFF) has begun. Held in the iconic Royal Melbourne Exhibition Building, we enter the monumental arch doorways into frills and frocks, influencers and bloggers, footballers’ wives, television personalities, and the Melbourne beauties of the fashion scene.

Welcome to the world of the fashion festival, where a woman behind me said ‘I have already arranged a new and different outfit for everyday of the festival’. A world where nothing is OTT and personality speaks of style.  On the right, we see the VAMFF media wall, where last year’s Australian reality television couple share a kiss for the photographers and the VIPs walk on for a snap.  On the left, we have champagne at the bar for guests to enjoy during the show.

Enter the straight runway, luminous and filled with light.  Seated rows on both sides, with the media ready to take the winning pics at the tops of the runway. The pics to be shared internationally, to show just exactly what Australian fashion is all about.

And gosh, is Australian fashion inspiring, uplifting and jaw dropping. Yes darling, it certainly is.

Runway 1 presented by Vogue.com.au, displayed collections by leading contemporary designers such as; Albus Lumen, Bassike, Bianca Spender, Camilla and Marc, Dion Lee, Scanlan Theodore and Victoria & Woods. Get excited, because these are some of my personal fave brands.

Albus Lumen with structured straw hats and touches of bold block coloured threads. Bassike displayed exaggerated cotton belts with long jacket drapes.  Camilla and Marc had my attention with deep greens plus a monochrome palette, add a belt corset to tie in the tiny waist
just elegance. Dion Lee with suit-like dresses, with a low v-neck cut
masculine but oh so feminine at the same time. Bianca Spender brought in the navys and florals, while Victoria & Woods made me want to buy a tan sweater, pant and bag trio. Oh, and those glasses! Lastly, Scanlan and Theodore exhibited all the tones of pinks.  If you know me well, pink is my colour. (sigh!)

Runway 1, presented by Vogue, was super elegant and exquisite. The perfect thing is, you can Shop The Runway.  Can’t wait for tomorrow.
