Lights, Camera, glamour! Melbourne Fashion Week 2017 Premium Runways have kicked off in Melbourne, with the David Jones Premium Runway 1 presented in beautiful Melbourne Town hall.
As Melbourne shivers through the cold, MFW certainly warmed things up. The sought-after front row seats were positioned down the centre of the runway, so those seated there feeling like part of the show. The mood was upbeat and fun.
The runway featured a stunning display of Spring/Summer 2017 fashion trends from Australian and international designer greats including Ted Baker, See by Chloe, Scanlan Theodore and Jets.
Swimwear was up first. Unmistakable Camilla, teamed with YSL heels, Stella McCartney striped bikinis complete with sneak-elyse platform sneakers, and one-piece swimsuits from Heidi Klum and Zimmermann which would look perfect on a James Bond girl, emerging from the ocean looking fabulous (in slow motion of course).
The new romantic collection delivered pastel blue and pinks, whimsical flowing floral dresses and nude colour footwear. Straw hats featured, giving me a ‘bring on summer’ feeling.
Onto my fave, the Racing collection. Spring Racing Carnival is ready to hit Melbourne and fashion for this year is elegant, classic and royal. Think jewelled crowns, Aphrodite headbands, and golden tiaras fit for royalty and you get a glimpse of perfect trackside headwear. Let’s hope the horses aren’t distracted by all the glistening gems (no doubt the ones I pick will be, they usually end up last). Feminine and chic Sandro mid-length mauve lace skirt, paisley silk shirt, topped with a Gregory Ladner crown and you have an outfit fit for a race day princess.
Red featured largely at Premium Runway 1, whilst classic black and white pieces provided inspiration for traditional Derby Day fashion. Hair was free flowing and tousled, makeup was subtle with the spotlight on lips. The hot lip tip for spring and summer: bright red!
Premium Runway 1 presented fashion pieces combining style and grace, providing plenty of inspo for what to wear on sun-filled days and balmy nights.
