Over Melbourne winter yet? We can’t make the cold weather go away, but we can help you take the edge off at the Queen Victoria Winter Night Market. It’s a firey wonderland full of mulled wine, global cuisines, local vendors, and exciting entertainment.
We got to experience the night first hand at the market’s Media VIP Party where we were guided on a behind-the-scenes tour to taste popular market dishes and meet market artisans. We discovered everything from handmade jewelry, to authentic Japanese kimonos, and upcycled propane cylinder planters!
Of course it’s not a winter market without hot alcoholic beverages. Mulled wine and hot apple cider are in abundance! Grab a bite to eat from one of the 30 food stalls (we loved the pulled pork from Burn City Smokers), a mulled wine or two, and let the dazzling lights and fires of the market transfix you.
You may be greeted by a market mime, magician or giant angel on stilts. Roving performers meander through the market entertaining and delighting patrons. I was approached by a tarot card reader who offered (much appreciated) advice on my love life!
For those of you feeling energetic, dance along to the live music, or join in on a silent disco with Guru Dudu. This guy is hilariously entertaining and will have you lip syncing and jiving to Britney Spears in no time. There’s nothing more entertaining than dancing around the Night Market with 20 of your (new) best friends, whilst observing the stares of awe and confusion from the marketgoers!
The Night Market runs through the end of August, so be quick and check it out! We promise it will warm your winter soul.
