Wolf Creek is one of my favourite movies to show international friends who are considering doing some backpacking around Australia. It’s mean, I know. But hey, it is based on a true story. The team at Stan. have now turned it into their own TV series. To celebrate, they decided to do what any smart business looking to entice Melburnians should. Create a pop-up bar, or a pop-up anything. We can’t help ourselves, and they know it!
The bar, aptly named Road House, will be at Federation Square from 5-8 May. It’s a pretty slick space with a neat photo opportunity next to Mick’s F100 ute and a giant photo wall. No doubt fans of the movie — and hopefully tons of new fans of the TV series — will be there in droves.
On opening night the stars were in town and John Garret (Mick) was in full flight. The team gave their fans a show and stuck around for several hours. We downed a few ‘serial killer’ sausages along with some delicious new brews from the Two Birds team. The entire menu for the pop-up is inspired by the movie.
Scenes from the TV series are playing on the big screen, and I will admit, I kinda want to see it!
