Party-hopping. The Plus Ones are all about it.
Dumbo Feather issue #38 launch party
Don’t know Dumbo Feather magazine? You’re missing out — particularly because they throw grrrrrrreat launch parties for their quarterly magazine. Issue #38 was all about asylum seekers, with the party featuring a percussion ensemble, Li’l Nom Noms food truck, and an Airstream trailer all parked outside the historic White House in St. Kilda.
Chapter House Lane‘s Pia Murphy’s ‘Land’ opening
Talk about a unique setting for a gallery. Chapter House Lane is housed in the laneway behind St. Paul’s Cathedral, just off Flinders Lane. Walk by when there’s an opening and it’s insta-party; at any other time, you’d have to be in the know to realise there’s artwork ensconced behind the glass.
ettitude Pop-Up Launch Party
Celebrating eco-store ettitude’s pop-up location in Melbourne, Ruki and I bounced into The Order of Melbourne after a couple of gallery openings. Handed one of the best gift bags I’ve gotten all year, we headed in for drinks and a fashion show showcasing their eco wares.
Yelp‘s Elite event at Fatto
Pinch me, I’m dreaming! It was yet another fabulous Elite event for Yelp, the review site. With perfect weather, it was one of those nights you feel privileged to be living in Melbourne. Fatto’s terrace overlooks the Yarra in front of Hamer Hall, and as Ruki and I indulged in drinks and photoshoots with our +1s, I felt like one supremely lucky gal.
These are just a few of the many stupendously cool events Ruki and I went to over the past month or so. Sometimes we have to hit three places in a night, there’s so much happening in Melbourne! But no complaints here — it’s fabulous being able to go to so many great experiences.
What have been your highlights of autumn so far?
