When I first heard murmurs of a Live Art Dance party…well it was like a flame to a moth. There was no way I could pass up going to an unique experience like this. The dance party was a part of the Festival of Live Art (FOLA) which was held across Footscray and North Melbourne from 14-30 March.
I missed out FOLA’s opening night party and whilst not an official closing party, I was hoping for a kaleidoscopic bang which would distort, confuse, and shake me to the core.
It was chaotic, it was energetic ,and it was definitely unique! There were several performers and the night built from a quiet start to an all-out bouncing, pouncing, jumping and jiving mosh-pit-of-fun.
We watched art being made in front of our eyes and performers giving their all amongst the crowd.
We worshiped new gods and witnessed ladettes being turned into lads.
A light DJ got the dancing started and a super energetic crowd engaging dance troupe had us jumping to tunes and turned the dance floor into a sweaty heaving mess. Yeah, I liked this part the best.
At $15, this event definitely provided value for money. I do like different and unique and this certainly hit the mark. Well done to the FOLA team for adding to the cultural mishmash that is Melbourne.
