Ever feel like having a nice glass of wine on a weeknight but can’t be bothered cracking open a new bottle? A Glass of is the answer to every wine lover’s dream. Get a pack of five or ten 200mL pouches delivered to your door for an elaborate evening of wine tasting, or to savour by the glass whenever you please.
The cute and slightly fancy snack sized pouches are the perfect accompaniment for a picnic, beach day, or when you simply want a cheeky glass of quality red on a Tuesday night.
The wines are curated and hand-picked by award-winning Shell House sommelier Alex Kirkwood (ex-Rockpool, Quay and Aria). With sommeliers on rotation the A Glass of offerings are constantly changing.
The company is focused on promoting the best independent winemakers across Australia, and sustainability – each glass comes in a foil lined pouch (think fancy goon bag) which preserves the wine and is more sustainable than glass or plastic bottles.
We received a package of five wines to try; two whites; a pinot gris and a Semillon, a Rose, and two reds; a Grenache and a Montepulciano Nero d’Avola, all accompanied with a tasting card. I had never heard of any of the producers before and was excited to try new wines from various regions across Australia that can’t be bought at my local bottle shop.
I organised a pre-Christmas picnic and wine tasting day outing with my friends where we put the five glasses to the test. I’ve drank a few Semillons, but never a Montepulciano Nero d’Avola, so exploring these varieties without committing to a full bottle was a fun experience.
The standout favourite was the Maker Master Merchant Organic Rose – with the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity this gem was perfectly crisp and refreshing – ideal for a hot summer day.
With a box of five wines costing just $45 (plus shipping), A Glass of is an affordable way to try new premium wines without breaking the bank or gambling on a full bottle with a nice label design.
They also make great gifts for the wine-lover friend in your life; A Glass of enables you to rely on someone who actually knows the difference between Sémillon and Pinot Gris, permitting you to experience and gift wine like a pro.
A Glass of delivers wines Australia-wide. Head to their website to see their latest selection and order your tasting pack.
