Yep, you heard that right…your very own pier with a boat dock, where you can spend an afternoon lingering, sipping negronis, and watching the sun sink below the bay. Does life get much better than this? Pier Farm is definitely worth the 20 train trek from Melbourne, and the perfect excuse to get out of the city!
Located in the old Anchorage building, owner Robert Schieriani has infused the waterfront venue with a new lease on life, and a whole lot of Mediterranean flair! Previously of The Italian, Schieriani has created a vibrant menu centred around local produce and seasonal flavours.
We were invited to checkout the new venue firsthand over a five-course dinner and sweeping bay sunset. We embarked on a foodie journey tasting everything from tuna carpaccio – yellowfin tuna, olive tapenade, tomato confit, and melba toast – spanner crab stuffed zucchini flowers, and paccheri parmigiana – eggplant, cherry tomatoes, and stracciatella cheese. All paired with matching wines from Greece, Italy, and Tasmania. Wine lovers rejoice…Pier Farm has over 140 wine varieties available!
The venue is reminiscent of a chic sea shack with white washed walls, large bay windows, tall ceilings with exposed beams, and leafy green plants hanging from the ceiling. Out back you will find a collection of eclectic boats docked to the pier, and uninterrupted city views.
