The Plus Ones’ Favourite Events of May 2015

May 2015 was filled to the max with art, tea, and shenanigans with fairies. You know, the kind of month that makes you realise all over again why you love living in Melbourne. Here are some of The Plus Ones’ highlights:

Walk-To-Art

Art should make you stop, look, and go ‘wow’! That’s all that is required for a piece to be engaging, according to Bernadette Alibrando, the Director of Melbourne’s Walk-To-Art tours. Bernadette started the company after spending a lot of time curating and working with artists. Her vision is to take the snobbery out of art and she loves showing off Melbourne’s hidden gems to people from across the art spectrum. We loved her style and her general view that art should be engaging, allowing the public to feel or interact with it. The experiential nature of her tours are just the sort of things The Plus Ones (TPO) love to attend. We recommend that you check our her future twilight art tours which include copious amounts of wine and cheese — another TPO favourite. -Ruki

Good Beer Week Viking vs. Pig

We nearly outdid ourselves at Good Beer Week this year. Not only did I run my own event, Craft+Craft, but I went to a Japanese event at Kumo Izakaya, the Time Out Pub Awards, and the Beer High Tea. Plus Ruki & I went to the GBW opening night party and GABs. But what we were really looking forward to was the sold-out Viking vs. Pig. Atticus Finch served up 12 Scandinavian beers with 12 cuts of delicious pork. My Untappd app got a workout that night. It was a feast beyond Vikings’ dreams, fit for a table at Valhalla. -Theresa

T2 Tea Tasting Journey

Ruki & I sometimes think we’re the only non-coffee drinkers in Melbourne. So basically, T2 is like my spiritual home. After attending their divine summer tea party, I couldn’t wait to try more at the free T2 Tea Tasting Journey class. And try we did. Fellow tea fan Lee and I journeyed through dozens of teas, learning their differences and taste profiles. Held upstairs at the T2 Little Collins St. shop, it was an Instagrammer’s dream event. The best part: we got to take a box of T2 tea home. Sign up for their email list to find out about the next one. -Theresa

Adult Fairy Party

This was fun! I’m fortunate to get to go to a lot of things in this business, but nothing beats serious fun. Held in the beautiful surrounds of The Butterfly Club, Natasha York uses her wit and fairy good-ness to produce an incredibly entertaining cabaret show that has you grinning from start to finish. The ‘Adult’ in the title should tip you off about the subject matter. And you definitely shouldn’t expect fairy bread. Pass the parcel, dancing like no one is watching, and duck-duck goose more than compensate for that! -Ruki

Adult Fairy Party - Ruki

Yet again, Melbourne outside itself this month. We’re so fortunate to live here — and to be able to share all of this with you. Thanks for reading!
