Yelp’s 2nd Birthday Extravaganza

Yelp, never heard of it? Get on it! It’s a review/event site spread across 22 different countries. It landed in Melbourne two years ago and hasn’t looked back.  There’s a vibrant local community of foodies, eventies, straight laced professionals and everything else you can imagine.  I have had the joy of getting to know these fine folk over the last year whilst enjoying many-a-night-out on the Yelp dime.

This was the big kahuna, the big enchilada and the big cheese all rolled into one.

Yelp’s 2nd birthday bash!

No expense was spared and the venue, Candela Nuevo, is hands down one of Melbourne’s premier venues. It unfortunately became a members’ only club a couple of years back, and its prime location — 17 floors above the corner of Queen and Flinders St — can’t be enjoyed by all any more.

Except for at events like Yelp’s. The weather was perfect and the rooftop deck was primed for a party.

Guests were treated to drinks from: Brown BrothersTrumer Pils, Golden Axe CiderWest Winds GinTromba Tequila666 Vodka, and Bionade.

This was of course until we drank them dry… Thankfully emergency kegs were on standby to keep the night sated.

We also had an array of snacks. The Livingroom‘s crumbed tuna tartare and The Banh Mi Boys‘ pork bun were my personal favourites.  But the deliciousness was unconstrained, with many other businesses providing the night with flavour: Brasserie BreadWondersnack CompanyLuxBiteSisko ChocolateCaptain Melville, and The Red Cow.

Thanks Yelp for throwing a great party, and here’s to another year of debauchery.
