Euro House Safari with Zomato

We were invited to safari at the recently revamped Euro House with Zomato Melbourne. I did Google ‘what to take on safari’ beforehand. Every top 10 list mentioned wet wipes. Was it going to be messy? If Sam and Renée, the dynamic duo that manage the venue, had their way wet wipes probably would be the order of the day. On this occasion though they walked us (literally) through their inspiration to present Melburnians with different.

Euro House is the same venue of Euro Trash fame. Few people realise that the entire building is managed by the same team. It’s quite an operation, with some nights requiring +30 staff across all three levels and in the secret courtyard (more on this later). ‘Euro Trash was messy’, says Sam. ‘It was fun, but it was messy!’ Much to people’s surprise, the incredibly popular venue was rebranded some time ago with Sam and Renée deciding to take a new direction. They tried a restaurant but it didn’t work out. Instead, following a trip to Guatemala and experiencing the joy and freshness of cassava, the team created Pulp.

Pulp’s aim is to detox while you retox. It’s theme is fresh seasonal fruits and the cocktail menu is constantly changing. I’d recommend the slower dilution drinks such as chilli or capsicum vodka along with a fruit-inspired cocktail. This venue also gives way to a hidden courtyard bar which after all my nights at Euro Trash I had never been to. I’d highly recommend checking it out on a Saturday during Pulp’s electro swing sessions.

The House of Maximon (Ma-shi-mon for us Aussies) is on the second level. I had my birthday here when it first opened, lured by the inviting smell of its free popcorn. The free popcorn, coated in an Argentinian spice rub, is still available and perfect to quaff down with Maximon’s very healthy tequila list.

Berlin Bar, on the House’s third level, is a favourite speakeasy of many a Melburnian. But did you know they have a food menu? Their charcuterie and currywurst plates are spot on – make sure to get the matching Boilermakers, and for those that love cocktails they have put together an entirely new menu.

There’s a lot of history and thought behind Euro House’s revamp. The safari is a great idea and makes for a pretty novel date!
