Located in Parramatta’s Heritage Precinct, Oribu offers a nuanced approach to Japanese fine dining. A culinary experience with three new head chefs – Jaybert Teves (ex-Sokyo), Jay Lee (ex-Aria) and Bryan Paul Nery, you know you’re in for a real treat.
Located in the Heritage Lounge, the iconic pillars of the building openly invite you into the Church Street space. The name ‘Oribu’ derives from the twinkling olive tree that stands prominently at the heart of this indoor-outdoor dining space, a feature you simply can’t miss. Perfect for date nights, or a celebratory catch-up with friends.
When dining, you have two set menu options to choose from: The Oribu Signature Tasting ($179pp) which provides a sophisticated intro to Japanese dining, or for those interested in a more indulgent affair, the Japanese Artistry Tasting ($350pp) elevates any experience with selections such as Oscietra Black Caviar-topped oysters and Lobster Tail as the main.
In addition to the tasting menus, Oribu’s à la carte selection features standout dishes, from appetisers like the spicy tuna crispy rice, to mains such as lobster tail with miso cream and and desserts like Green Tea Tiramisu.
With a vast wine, spirits and cocktail menu, you’ll be treated to signature cocktails like the Picante (spicy with a hint of Absinthe!) and a Copper Colada that will arrive smoky and served in a copper pineapple. The drinks menu is bold, with each drink thoughtfully designed in both flavour and presentation.
The Signature Journey tasting menu provides a sophisticated introduction to Japanese dining with dishes that are a work of art. With dishes like the royal miyagi oysters, hiramasa kingfish carpaccio, mini sashimi, lotus chips and creamy popcorn prawns (a favourite!) – and that’s not even the all the entrees.
Take our word for it – you won’t go hungry.
Moving to the mains of the menu, guests can choose from either angus tenderloin, or glacier 51 cured sweet miso with a side of choice (I opted for the Glacier 51 and crispy eggplant which was the perfect combination).
To finish, choose from Oribu panna cotta, apple crumble cheesecake or red bean parfait. Thankfully there’s always room for dessert!
