Sokyo Sunday Sessions – Launch Party

You’ll be glad to know there’s a new way to end your weekend on a happy(hour) note. Sokyo Lounge at Sydney’s The Star Casino recently co-hosted a stellar Launch Party with Time Out, to kick off their newest offering: Sokyo Sunday Sessions. Dubbed a Japanese-inspired restaurant with a global flavour — Sokyo blends the best of Sydney and Tokyo.

The ticketed cocktail party launch allowed guests to sample a selection of the bar’s delectable cocktails, on top of outstanding canapés from the pop-up food stations set up for the event. With a DJ dropping the funkiest tunes, the afternoon was a feast of sights and sounds.

My guest and I sipped on four full-sized cocktails, including the signature Sokyo Negronis, Americanos, Nashi Pear Mules and Yuzu Margaritas. We were impressed by the generous food offerings, including spicy tuna rolls, fresh oysters, and yuzu lemon tarts. Our favourite was the luxurious Japanese egg and caviar sandwiches.

Sokyo’s cocktails all include a Japanese twist, all of which complement the flavours of its adjoining restaurant. Head Chef Chase Kojima and his team source the finest local produce to create an unique menu of tempura and sashimi, plus mouth-watering tender meats cooked over the robata grill. Sokyo fuses eclectic ambience with a very cosmopolitan energy, resulting in an experience unlike any other.

This stylish Pyrmont bar will be shaking, stirring, whipping and pouring their incredible cocktails for $10-$12 throughout the weekly Sokyo Sunday Sessions. You’ll be able to order from an à la carte menu too, and from the much-loved bar menu from 5.30pm. Just pop in from 4-7pm every Sunday to take the edge off those looming Monday blues.
