Mark Your Calendars for Ginuary at Wilhelmina’s, Balmain

What is Ginuary? It is a bid to combat Dry January, Fit February, Sober October, and all other months of depriving yourself of tasty beverages. Wilhelmina’s will be hosting bespoke gin events throughout the month of January, hence Ginuary.

The Plus Ones were invited along to the launch of what is basically a month-long celebration of all things Gin. Naturally, we are all in.

Ginuary Mikey

The idea sprung from the gin-loving mind of Wilhelmina’s General Manager Mikey Hamilton. Mikey was sick of these months of abstinence and hankering for an excuse to try some delightful Gin that Sydney had to offer.

The month will include Gin flights, discounted Gin cocktails, and a range of events. Some of the events include The Art of Perfumery presented by Tanqueray. At this event guests will learn about the characteristics of alcohol as both a drink and a perfume base. Learn all about it and bring home your very own perfume. Or learn all about Gin with the masterclass Gin Through the Ages hosted by Never Never Distilling Co.. Here attendees will discover the origins of Gin and how it has been used throughout the ages. Some events are already sold out, so check out their events page to secure your spot.

Ginuary G&T

Wilhelmina’s put out a wonderful spread of cured meats, cheeses, and delicious bread inspired by – and an excellent pairing to – the delightful Gin on offer. They served the quintessential G&T with Four Pillars Dry Gin. Always a great choice in my opinion.

In addition to the classic G&T, Wilhelmina’s also served some excellent Negronis and Four Pillar’s one-of-a-kind Christmas Gin – currently sold out on their website but available in some bottle shops if you can find it. It smells like Gin and tastes exactly like Christmas pudding. You have the anise, the cinnamon, and juniper coming together to create a highly drinkable Christmas spirit all on its own.

Ginuary Shiraz

In addition to all that, we managed to sample the wonderful Shiraz Gin. Always goes down a treat. If Four Pillars isn’t your thing, Ginuary will play host to a range of Australian Gin. From distilleries like Archie Rose, Poor Toms, and much more. So, head over to beautiful Balmain and celebrate all things Gin with the folks from Wilhelmina’s. Toast to fantastic Aussie Gin!
