Zoo Brew at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo

Beer, cider, food and a panoramic view of the Sydney. What more could you ask for?

For the first time ever, a unique event at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo function centre offered just that. Thousands beer and cider lovers flocked to Zoo Brew which showcased more than 20 local and international brewers. Tickets to the event included a 100 ml glass, 10 beer sample tokens and a 50% discount on zoo entry tickets.

That’s one litre of the world’s top craft beer or cider to stomach! Everything was on show from sour beer to salt and pepper pale ale. It wasn’t hard to tantalise the taste buds with some weird and wacky flavours.

With the sun shining over the Sydney city, it was a great chance for people to grab a drink and enjoy the view on the balcony. Some of the brewers included Canberra’s BentSpoke Brewing Co, New Zealand’s Monteith’s Brewing Company, Gold Coast’s Balter Brewing Company, Melbourne’s Two Birds Brewery and Byron’s Stone & Wood, along with local favourites Young Henrys and Lord Nelson.

Each session featured a Meet the Brewer talks by some of the participating breweries to know more about some of the amazing craft brews Sydney had to offer.

If you missed out this year’s ZOO BREW, don’t worry, organisers are looking to host an even bigger and better one next year! A portion of the ticket proceeds went to Taronga’s wildlife conservation activities.
