Care-free, feminine and upbeat. The girls bouncing down the runway modelling for C/MEO Collective oozed positive energy. The Resort 18 collection screamed millennial country garden party to me. It championed bold botanical prints, an abundance of ruffles and varying shades of tumblr pink – most notably in the faux fur stoles draped nonchalantly over one shoulder.
The front row was incorporated into the runway itself and select guests were seated in small groups around horticultural arrangements, almost like they were at a garden party themselves. The girls sashayed down the runway, weaving their way around the gatherings of guests. Often accessorised with various plants tucked neatly into the crook of their arms instead the next seasons it bag, I know I won’t be alone when I head down to the garden centre this weekend to get inspired.
The colour palette was bold but muted, almost as if William Morris’s wallpaper had been given a new lease of life and thrown into 2017. I loved the combination of garden green, mustard yellow, and repeated hints of candy pink. The collection also benefitted from including all black or all white looks, offering a tailored selection of style staples.
Several pieces from the collection looked like they were designed for cool bridesmaids. Beautifully cut long dresses with big gathered sleeves were decorated with clusters of tiny jewels, as well as silky blush pink wrap dresses dresses styled over white cut-off trousers. The consequent exploration of shirting was refreshing and the detailed waterfall features combined with asymmetric hemlines changed the direction of the design aesthetic.
Hair was kept untamed and wispy bits poking out of messy buns were celebrated. Make-up was rosy and youthful using peachy toned eyeshadow and pink blush to keep the look fresh. Jewellery provided by Dinosaur Designs was understated but interesting, non matching gold earrings were a firm favourite.
The C/MEO Collective stayed true to their philosophy of providing innovative pieces that are directional yet totally wearable. The in-house designed prints give the brand a unique aesthetic that can’t be imitated, the C/MEO girl is sure to be the coolest for yet another season.
