Yoga Dining Club experience at Ruby Lane Cafe

The drizzling rain and grey skies provided a surprisingly glittery accompaniment to the array of candles lining the terrace of Ruby Lane Café in Manly for Yoga Dining Club‘s social event.

The floorboards were soon packed with picturesque rectangles of colourful yoga mats, dotted with an audience of fitfully clad yogis following the movements and stretches of their instructor perched at the far end of the group.

Ruby Lane is an organic eatery located in Manly, and last month they collaborated with Yoga Dining Club to provide an evening of yoga, healthy dining, and socialising. The goal of the event was to leave the attendees feeling zen, well nourished, and glowing. (It is yoga, after all.)

After a one hour’s calming, invigorating and refreshing class, everyone was offered glasses of organic kombucha and wine, taking me back to my yoga days in Bali where I would slug litres of kombucha in the local café while making the most out of their fast wifi.

The group was limited to 50 places, which made the event laid back and friendly. Everyone chatted and laughed while waiting in line for the buffet spread of food which arrived from Ruby Lane Café on large platters after the yoga.

From sweet potato chips with a creamy tahini topping, to kale salad and black rice, everything served at the event was vegan, nutritious and delicious (not to mention extremely Instagrammable). The combination of yoga, exercise and organic food and beverages certainly provides the perfect opportunity to bring together like-minded individuals.

This event was suitable for all levels, beginners and advanced, and all ages could be seen sitting together at the tables on the terrace sharing food and experiences. The hosts were extremely accommodating and friendly, while the glow from Ruby Lane Café created a homely and cosy vibe. The conversations continued on a high throughout the meal, oblivious to the torrential rain pour outside.
