Mrs. Macquaries Point
This is an excellent option because it offers arguably one of the best view of the grand affair. However, prepare to get there earlier than you would for the launch of a new iPhone.
Pro: Stellar view.
Con: Impossibly busy.
Bradfield Park
If you’re on the North Shore, this is the spot to be in. It’s large, doesn’t pack out till later in the day (so no huge rush), and is about as close as you’ll get to the bridge for free on NYE.
Pro: Bridge-side spot.
Con: Travel to-from the park, if you’re south of the bridge.
The Sydney Opera House
This is by far the most iconic location to take in the spectacle. If this is your once-in-a-lifetime Sydney NYE, this is the spot to experience it from.
Pro: It’s the Opera House (!).
Con: Gets incredibly busy, equally early.
Manly Cove
Sydney’s glorious beaches are as symbolic of the nation as the Opera House is of the city. If the fireworks aren’t your first priority, and you’re after a somewhat different experience (away from the inner-city chaos), a beach-side NYE might just do the trick.
Pro: It’s different.
Con: Lack of a comparable vantage point.
[+] Pirrama Park
This is our favorite. Great views of the harbor bridge, hardly ever reaches capacity (or gets too packed), and walking distance to the CBD.
Pro: Convenient and comfortable.
Con: You’ll miss the Opera House.
Paid Vantage Points
Goat Island
Take it in from the heart of the action on this spectacular little island off the harbor. Tickets are almost sold out, so get on it quick!
[+] Tropicana at Bungalow 8
Couple that harborside vantage point with international, world-renowned DJs and a tropicana vibe will have you dancing the night away, immersed amidst a “full-scale audiovisual masterpiece.”

Clark Island Garden Party
For a more experiential, boutique island experience, try the Clark Island Garden Party. Scrumptious food, delectable cocktails, and incredible entertainment help you usher in 2016 in elegance.
Bradleys Head – The Mast
The North Shore showcases another winner, with entertainment aplenty. With live acts, circus workshops, face painting, and more; NYE brings an entirely unique experience to this already fantastic vantage point.
NYE Above the Harbour
A trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens is never lacking for a reason, and NYE is a spectacular one. Enjoy a five-star front row seat for the evening, with food and beverages to match.
