By chuck, what a day at the polo!

Having recently moved here from London, I thought the days of rain-soaked outdoor events were well and truly behind me, but it turns out that even Sydney is dealt that card every once in a while. Thankfully, Land Rover’s Polo in the City, held in Sydney’s stunning Centennial Park, was one event for which Sydney’s finest were only too happy to brave the showers and doll-up for a thrilling afternoon of polo.

Sophisticated dress codes and flutes of champagne were the order of the day, while the hum of the polo game provided a backdrop of glamour within the luxury marquees and buzzing Stella Artois Polo Lounge – Needless to say, a day at the polo is about more than just the horses dahling.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the otherwise sold-out Stella Artois lounge to revel in the game with the beautiful people, seek occasional shelter from the showers and kick back to the tunes of the DJ with a chilled wine in hand. ‘Fashions on the Field’ and other traditions were a nod to the etiquette of a grand day out, while a relaxed atmosphere and friendly interaction with the players meant guests were treated to a closer-than-ever insight into the game of polo – Now, does anybody know the score please?

The Plus Ones were invited guests of Craig Barbour, Polo’s consultant for Corporate and Sponsor Sales, Liaison and Management, and a special thanks goes to Craig and his team.
